COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. is a main subsidiary of the state owned China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO). The group specializes in ship repair and conversion, ship new-building, offshore unit construction, offshore upgrades and conversions. Located in the city of Dalian, the Northeast International Shipping Center, COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard is the largest shipyard within the COSCO Shipyard Group so far. Using the existing facilities, COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard can undertake more than 200 large-size ocean vessels' repair and conversion annually and has become the main base for ship repair, conversion and off shore marine engineering manufacture in North-East Asia. It has one of the worlds biggest floating docks with a capacity of 300.000 D.W.T., one 180.000 D.W.T. dry-dock, one 80.000 D.W.T. dry-dock and nine repair berths including a 300.000 D.W.T. accommodating wharf and a 10.000 Ton slipway. The shipyard covers 1,200,000 square meters of land, is well equipped and serves as an ideal place for the repair and conversion of large bulk carriers, container carriers and VLCCs, tankers to FPSOs as well as specializing in the building of complicated projects including multi-purpose heavy crane vessels.
