COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. is a main subsidiary of the state owned China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO). The group specializes in ship repair and conversion, ship new-building, offshore unit construction, offshore upgrades and conversions. The group consists of seven (7) subsidiary shipyards, each strategically located along the eastern China coastline, starting from the North and distributed all the way down to the South of China. (In Dalian, Lianyungang, Nantong, Qidong, Shanghai, Zhoushan and Guangdong.) A subsidiary of COSCO Shipyard Group, COSCO (Lianyungang) Shipyard Co., Ltd. aspires to be one of the leading shipyards in China. It is located at Xugou Port, in Lianyun District, Lianyungang, near to Japan and Korea, and connects the Shanghai and Qingdao ports, with quite convenient communication to and from Beijing. COSCO (Lianyungang) Shipyard occupies a 225,000 square meters production site and operates one 80.000 D.W.T. floating dock and three berths fully covered by five shore cranes up to 50 tons as well as other facilities and equipment. The well experienced managers and engineers working at COSCO (Lianyungang) Shipyard since its establishment were selected from COSCO Shipyard Group's major subsidiary shipyards, and the skillful subcontractors were all recruited from major shipyards in China.
